510,000 vaccine doses administered in Qatar

The ministry of public health has announced that 510,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses, have been administered since the start of the national vaccination programme in Qatar.

14,000 people are getting vaccinated against COVID-19 every day.

Since the beginning of the programme in February the number of doses administered each week has increased by a massive 270%, and more than one in seven adults, which is 15% of Qatar’s adult population, have now received at least one vaccine dose.

UK bans flights from Qatar and Oman

Britain has added Qatar to its travel Red List and has band all flights from Qatar, from Friday early morning.

Direct passenger flights from Doha to the UK will end by 4am on the 19th of March 2021 until further notice.

As per an announcement all aircraft carrying passengers will not be permitted to depart Doha if they are due to arrive in the UK on or after this time.

This will have a significant impact on transit passengers too, as for many passengers who are flying to the UK via Doha such as from Sydney to Doha to London will now have the final part of their journey (Doha to London) cancelled due to the UK’s flight ban on Qatar. Passengers will be able to obtain refunds or rebook.

Qatar’s weather today

The Met Office have issued a warning that there’s going to be low horizontal visibility with some mist and fog, in some places at first today. It will be relatively hot but become milder by tonight.

Doha will see between 21 and 32 degrees. Elsewhere in Qatar it will be between 15 and 34 degrees.

Now today’s COVID update.

In the last 24-hour period, there have been 479 new cases of COVID-19 and 345 recoveries. Which means there’s been an increase of 133 cases giving us a new current total of 12,091 active cases.
