85% jump in Covid related hospital admissions in January, says the Ministry of Public Health

Qatar has seen an 85% increase in the number of people admitted to hospital with COVID-19 in January as against December.

The Ministry of Public Health says it’s very important now more than ever, that all members of society adhere to preventative measures such as wearing a mask and maintaining a distance of at least 1.5 metres while avoiding crowded places as much as possible, with regular hand washing.

The Ministry of Interior rights department helped 2,000 workers to transfer jobs

The Human Rights Department of the Ministry of Interior successfully dealt with complaints of workers. Helping 2,000 workers to transfer their jobs without employer’s approval.

There’s been a 14.9% rise in new vehicle registrations

A total of 5,825 new vehicles were registered in December 2020. Which represents an increase of 14.9% over November, according to the latest statistics released by the planning and statistics authority. Who also say the number of traffic violations increased at a monthly rate of 14.7% and an annual rate of 7.9% . There were a total of 629 traffic accidents in December, which represented a monthly increase of 5.2% but overall an annual decrease of 1.4%

In the last 24-hour period, active cases of COVID-19 have increased by 213, to 5,281.

10,798 COVID-19 tests were performed, and just 3.25% of those tested positive.

Of those testing positive 41 were travellers who are now in quarantine.
