All existing quarantine hotel bookings cancelled from today to meet new rules

All existing hotel bookings, regardless of the country of origin, for welcome home quarantine packages, will be cancelled from today and anyone with a reservation will need to rebook, discover Qatar has said.

“The state of Qatar has imposed new entry requirements for passengers arriving from six countries – Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka – with travellers from these countries needing to enter extended periods of mandatory quarantine of 10 days,” Discover Qatar said in a press statement yesterday.

And they went on to say “as a result of these new and immediate requirements, discover Qatar must, with regret, cancel all customers existing hotel bookings, regardless of the country of origin, for welcome home quarantine accommodation from April the 29th and anyone holding a booking will need to rebook”.

Private clinics can provide services up to 50% of their capacity

The cabinet has allowed private healthcare facilities to provide their services at up to 50% of their capacity, starting today.

Other COVID-19 precautionary measures previously announced will continue.

FIFA Arab Cup 2021 looking for enthusiastic volunteers

People in Qatar are being encouraged to volunteer for the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 , which will take place later this year. The tournament organisers are looking for enthusiastic people aged 18 and above to support a range of operations including spectator services, hospitality, broadcasting and media, among others. Volunteers will receive full training , tournament accreditation and a branded uniform. During their shifts, they will be entitled to a meal and use of public transport.

The Met Office have put out a warning that strong winds are expected in places. There will be scattered clouds with a chance of rain.

Doha will see temperatures between 26 and 36 degrees. Elsewhere in the country it will be between 23 and 39 degrees.

Now today’s COVID update.

In the last 24-hour period, there have been 690 new cases of COVID-19 and 1,606 recoveries. Unfortunately, there were also 4 Covid related deaths. Which means for the sixth day running there has been a decrease in active cases, today dropping by 920 giving us a new current total of 17,526 active cases.
