‘Doha Capital of Culture’ activities begin next week

Doha has been selected to be the capital of culture in the Islamic world for the year 2021. The year-long activities will kick off on March the 8th.

The event will highlight Qatar’s cultural diversity and historic monuments, as well as the human values of its culture. It will promote the eternal Islamic values especially those based on science and human dignity and promote the Islamic cultural heritage in an interconnected world.

Samkna eyes expansion to meet rising demand

Samkna the aquaculture project using floating cage technology in open water, has successfully started production, meeting around 20% of local demand. The project has started by farming Sea Bass because it’s a strong species and grows faster in warm water, has delicious taste, and is rich in Omega 3.

Fuel gets costlier

Customers will have to pay more for fuel in Qatar in March according to the new prices announced by Qatar Petroleum yesterday. Premium, Super, and Diesel all go up by 15 dirhams each. Bring Premium to 1.6, Super to 1.65 and Diesel to 1.60 riyals per litter.  

Weather

Today’s weather will be hazy at first with moderate temperatures later. There will be some clouds and possibly a chance of some light rain.

Doha will be between 19 and 24 degrees. Elsewhere in Qatar it will be between 11 and 29 degrees.

Now today’s COVID update.

In the last 24-hour period, there have been 467 new cases of COVID-19 and 402 recoveries. Which means there’s been an increase of 64 cases giving us a new current total of 9,785 active cases.
