EU reaches deal on COVID passes to open up tourism

The European Union reached a deal yesterday on COVID-19 certificates designed to open up tourism across the 27-nation bloc this summer, as a rapid pick up of vaccinations allows widespread easing of coronavirus restrictions.

First Qatari tracking number launched

The presence of a tracking number on products facilitates the process of identifying all product details, from its source to the details of its validity, components, and in some cases its price. Previously, Qatari  producers used tracking numbers belonging to foreign countries to distinguish their products. Now Qatar products can have a barcode starting 630 which identifies them as originating from Qatar.

Qatar University researchers work on bio-fertiliser to grow crops with sea water

The article on the front page of the Peninsula points out that the ability of crops to grow using salt water will permit for a drastic alleviation of the pressure on Qatar’s scarce groundwater resources.

Doha will see temperatures between 31 and 44 degrees. Elsewhere in the country it will be between 25 and 45 degrees.

In the last 24-hour period, there have been 313 new cases of COVID-19 and 522 recoveries. Unfortunately, there was also 1 Covid related death. Which means for the 27th day running there has been a reduction in active cases, today dropping by 210 giving us a new current total of 4,151 active cases.
