Ministry shuts some schools for flouting COVID-19 norms

The Ministry of Education and higher education has ordered temporary closure of several schools in the country for violating COVID-19 safety precautions. The violations were detected during the surprise inspections carried out jointly by the education and health ministries.

Students in these schools have been moved to the distance learning format during the temporary closure. The ministry referred the schools for internal investigations to identify the causes and sources of the infection, and to impose the appropriate administrative penalties against them.

Luxury coastal cruise of Qatar postponed

Qatar Airways Holidays and Discover Qatar have postponed the luxury coastal cruise of Qatar, which was scheduled to begin on March 30th, and was expected to continue with six sailings until April the 14th. The cruise series postponement is a proactive decision to deal with the circumstances continuing to evolve from the global response to COVID-19 and support efforts to protect the local community.

Easy approval for events after applying through Metrash 2  

You can submit an application for holding an event for example a wedding or condolence, through Metrash 2. And the approval is granted immediately after signing the pledge of following precautionary measures.

After submitting the request the Ministry of Interior’s representatives will visit the venue of the approved event, to ensure that the measures recommended by the competent authorities are applied in order to prevent the spread of the virus.

The Met Office have put out a warning that there will be poor visibility in places this morning. Generally the weather will be Misty too foggy in places at first, becoming moderate temperature later, relatively cold by tonight

Doha will see temperatures between 17 and 26 degrees. Today’s lowest temperature will be in Messaid which will see temperatures as low as 11 degrees.

In the last 24-hour period, active cases of COVID-19 have increased by 262, to 8,937.
