The Ministry of Public Health approves 2 new COVID-19 tests at private health facilities

Private healthcare centres can now perform rapid antigen testing and antibody testing.

Antigen testing offers a fast and reasonably accurate way of detecting the COVID-19 virus. It requires a nasal swab, and the results are usually available within 15 minutes.

Antibody testing is used to detect immunity against COVID-19 as the result of a previous infection or vaccination. These tests can be done in private clinics by nurses, physicians, or other healthcare providers. It requires a drop of blood to be taken and the results are usually available within 15 minutes.

Polymer chain reaction or PCR testing can detect COVID-19 in the early acute infectious stages and during the prolonged shedding stage that is often found in recovering patients. PCR testing is considered the golden standard in diagnosing acute infections of COVID-19.

Classes to resume at training and educational centres today

Private schools and kindergartens are now allowed to choose between providing blended or remote learning.
