No COVID-19 second wave in Qatar

Qatar has witnessed stability in the Coronavirus outbreak for several weeks and has not faced a second wave of the virus, said the Minister of Public Health Her Eminence Doctor Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari.

She pointed out that there are a few cases of virus outbreaks that are mostly related to family, social gatherings or shared places of residence. And this is controlled through effective monitoring and case tracking. However she warned that this does not mean that “we are completely safe from the threat of a second wave”

The Amir patronises police college graduation

The ceremony marked the graduation of 112 officers including 93 Qataris from the Ministry of Interior and various military entities in the state, 10 from Jordan, 6 from Palestine and three from Yemen.

Doha is ready to host the FIFA Club World Cup

Education City and Ahmad Bin Ali stadiums capacities will be limited to 30% for the FIFA Club World Cup.

The two venues both have a seating capacity of 40,000 each, but due to coronavirus precautions will only utilise 30% of this. Which if I get my Calculator out means 12,000 seats in each venue will be utilised.

The tournament which Qatar is hosting for the second time will feature six teams. With Al Duhail being the host nations representatives.

The tournament will run from February the 1st until February the 11th.

Qatar’s weather today can expect moderate temperatures daytime with some clouds. And it will be cold by tonight.

Doha will see between 15 and 23 degrees. Abu Samra will experience todays coolest temperature dropping to as low as 11 degrees.

Now today’s COVID update.

In the last 24-hour period, active cases of COVID-19 have increased by 130, to 3,784.

10,419 COVID-19 tests were performed, and just 2.41% of those tested positive.
