Qatar launches their Entry Permit Service for returning residents currently stranded abroad because of COVOD-19.
The temporary service will allow employers of all sizes, individuals to large corporates to apply for permits enabling the return of their staff and the families of staff.
Applications can be made from August the 1st online, on the government portal.
This follows Wednesdays news of a massive relaxing of quarantine rules here in Qatar. And means that in advance of Phase 4 in September when air travel will almost return to normal, employees can get back to work and families can be reunited.
Schools are to have a gradual reopening from September the 1st. With 3 phases enabling maximum safety, and a more gentle return to normal. The third and final stage will begin on September 20th, when student numbers will be back up to 100% on site attendance.
Qatar Airways starts a new service to the Philippines, giving direct flights to the island of Cebu. In the past few months, even during the height of the pandemic, Qatar Airway has launched direct flights to Brisbane, Australia and Toronto, Canada. Demonstrating the sheer resilience of an airline capable of opening 3 new destinations during a global crisis.

Based on the previous 7 days figures.
Active cases are stable at around 3,000 and dropping at an average of 14 cases per day.
Of those tested 9.98% are testing positive.
