Security preparations for the 2022 World Cup continue unhindered. Since March the security committee at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, has delivered all necessary training for police officers and security personnel online. Video clips, 3D simulations and regular tests via its interactive online platform mean training has continued to be delivered despite social distancing requirements

Ashghal to hold forum to back local suppliers and next month.

As part of its effort to support local products through its projects. The public works authority Ashghal will hold a ‘Supporting Local Manufacturers Forum’ in September. An official statement said the forum will see the participation of Ashghal’s international and local contractors that are implementing various projects, in addition to qualified and new local factories. The forum will provide an important opportunity to learn about new projects and their needs for local materials.  

The final decision on schools reopening will be announced on September 1st

The Director of the Public Health Department Sheikh doctor Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani says there will undoubtedly be a clear decision on September 1st. He said the Ministry of Education and higher education is currently working on a plan to assess the risks involved in returning students to schools. The officials suggested that the possibilities could swing from postponing in-person classes, to a full resumption of school activities. And the decision also depends on the awareness among students.

67 worksites shut for flouting summer midday work ban.

Here in Qatar there’s a ban on working outdoors in direct sunlight  between the hours of 11:30 AM and 3:00 PM from June 15th to August 31st every year. This is for the safety of workers .

However as many as 67 work sites have been shut for three days for violating the ministerial decision #16 of 2007 regarding the ban on midday outdoor workers during summer. Most of the violating companies were in the contracting sector and in different areas of the country.

Active cases of COVID-19 here in Qatar remain stable at just above 3,000. And as a 7 day average, only 6.39% of those being tested are testing positive.
