Qatar to host 2021 Asian Table Tennis Championships

The Asian Table Tennis Union or ATTU, has officially chosen Qatar to host the 25th edition of the Asian men’s and women’s table Tennis Championships in September 2021

Construction sector emerges as the largest job creator in Qatar

The construction sector absorbed the bulk of imported Labour employing about 44.2% of the total expatriate workforce in 2019.

The rapid growth of Qatar’s economy in the past few years has created job opportunities for thousands of skilled and semi-skilled workers.

According to the Planning and Statistics Authority the wholesale and retail trade sectors employed 12.6% of the workforce.

Qatar University along with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, to develop the first solar agricultural greenhouse

Qatar University has been provided with a grant by the Qatar National Research Fund for the project, to deliver a thermally insulated greenhouse that allows the entry of optimum solar radiation levels through negative linear Fresnel lenses on the roof.

In comparison to a conventional greenhouse the monthly cooling load of the proposed greenhouse is about 80% less. Therefore the project can achieve the benefits of a closed greenhouse while overcoming the high cooling demand, in subtropical and arid regions.

All school children to undergo saliva tests to detect COVID-19

A top health official has said that Qatar will soon introduce a nonintrusive saliva test. That avoids the need for intrusive nasal swabs, to test for the coronavirus in schools.

Active cases of COVID-19 are now 2,863

Of those being tested,  5 in 100 people are testing positive.

16 cases in the last 24 hour period were returning travelers, that are now in quarantine.
