Phase one of Sabah Al Ahmad corridor opens to traffic.

The public’s works authority Ashghal yesterday opened the first phase of the Sabah Al Ahmad corridor with a length of 13 kilometres from Umm Lekhba  interchange in the North to Abu Hamour bridge in the South.

So far 21 out of the 32 bridges that make up the vital road have opened, including Qatar’s first cable state bridge with a length of 1.2 kilometres.

The project will fully open to traffic in the first quarter of 2021.

Hamad Medical Corporation doctors perform ‘awake’ brain surgery. The surgery known as ‘Awake Craniotomy’ was performed on a 55-year-old female patient with a brain tumour, while she was still conscious.

The medical team were able to talk to the patient during the procedure, Which means they were able to ask her to perform simple tasks to make sure they were preserving her function.

Monitoring brain performance as the surgeon operates helps ensure the brain remained safe while the tumour is removed. The surgery took less than three hours and an MRI scan performed the following day showed the brain tumour had been completely removed. And the patient was able to go home just two days after surgery.

The Ministry of Interior has urged motorists to move their vehicles to the nearest parking space in case of a minor road accident. To avoid blocking the traffic flow. Then use the Metrash2 mobile app to report the incident.

Active cases of COVID-19 are now 2,843

Of those being tested,  5 in 100 people are testing positive.

16 cases in the last 24 hour period were returning travelers, that are now in quarantine.
