It’s Sunday 20th September, this is the news in 60 seconds
Not a lot happened in Qatar over this weekend. I like to bring you local stories covering developments here in Qatar itself. Wherever possible I try and stay away from international news as that’s available elsewhere.
Yesterday I couldn’t find any relevant stories whatsoever, and as a result decided not to put out an episode of Qatar Quick’s news in 60 seconds.
Today’s newspapers mainly consist of filler. Stories that are not very date sensitive and can be used when there’s not much going on.
Here are today’s headlines
The president of FIFA Gianni Infantino has said that Qatar will host the best ever World Cup in 2022.
Infantino also praised Qatar for implementing historic Labour reforms and setting minimum wages for workers.
Deal signed to set up Qatar’s first plant for electric vehicles. The 20 million Euro joint venture between French Gaussin company and Qatar’s Al Attiya Motors, is to be established in the Ras Bufontas Free Zone.

Unified training guide for driving schools proposed.
Karwa adds 14 more bus routes today. Mowasalat has announced that 14 routes will be added to the network of city buses from today.
Active cases of COVID-19 are now 2,848
Of those being tested, 5 in 100 people are testing positive.
17 cases in the last 24 hour period were returning travelers, that are now in quarantine.
