It’s Sunday 26th of July, this is the news in 60 seconds

In today’s papers

Hamad International Airport have installed the very latest in security screening technology. And it means you no longer have to remove your electrical items from your hand luggage while passing through security.

Using an advanced algorithm, the system can easily detect explosives which the bad guys try and hide in complex electrical items such as laptops.

As well as speeding up the time spent passing through security, an added benefit is that it will help prevent cross-contamination as personal belongings stay in your bag.

Sales of chocolates and flowers are booming in the run up to Eid. And for those of you sending to me, don’t worry too much about the flowers, the chocolates will do just fine.

Qatar has won the right to host the World Association of Sport Management or WASM in 2022. This will be the first time the event has ever taken place in the Middle East, North African region. And marks another milestone for Qatar in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

And finally, today is the last time I’m going to nag you about registering your address on the National Address Database. As today is the deadline for getting that task completed. From tomorrow anyone mot registered or giving inaccurate information will be liable to a fine of up to 10,000 Riyals.

Now here’s a quick COVID update

Today there are 64 less people recovering than the 7 day average.

So even though the new cases are around the same number. The drop in recoveries means that for the first time in 46 days, the active cases have gone up. And gone up by 68 cases.

Of those tested 9.41% of people are testing positive.

That’s all for today, please take care, and I’ll see you tomorrow.
