COVID-19 not widespread in Qatar says an official

The coronavirus COVID-19 is not widespread in all parts of Qatar but in certain pockets only thanks to the public awareness and participation in precautionary measures a senior health official has said.

The ministry of public health has conducted a study to find the ability of the virus to remain suspended in the air. It was found that the virus may be present in the air but in very small proportions. It is unlikely to cause infection and we reassure on that says Sheikh Doctor Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Thani director of the public health Department at the Ministry of Public Health.

He went on to say we found the virus on different surfaces but it was not clear to us conclusively if it was contagious or not. There are companies that say they have sterilised all surfaces. But when we took samples we found the virus or its remains. So our role is to recommend better sanitization especially in health and education facilities the airport and crowded places.

The contract has been awarded for the Edutainment Ride at Qetaifan Island North.

Qetaifan Projects, a company owned by Katara Hospitality has announced that it has awarded the design and build contract for the edutainment immersive water ride in Qetaifan Island North, to British company Sarner International.

The water park spans 137,000 square metres and is surrounded by 6 beaches and a 356 key hotel, in addition to a beach club and a retail area.

The water park features 36 water slides and rides. And is part of Qetaifan Island North, which is part of Lusail city.

The edutainment ride is inspired by the history of oil discovery in Qatar. It will explain the process of how oil is formed, located, drilled, extracted and transported. Separated and then used in today’s world.

Qatar Airways has announced that from today, passengers arriving in Qatar from Istanbul Turkey, must present a negative COVID-19 test result issued by an accredited medical centre not more than 48 hours before arrival in Doha.

Active cases of COVID-19 here in Qatar remain stable at just above 3,000. And as a 7 day average, only 6.71% of those being tested are testing positive.

That’s all for today, please take care, and I’ll see you tomorrow.
