Today marks the beginning of Qatar’s Phase 3 of relaxing preventative COVID measures. From today you can get a haircut, visit a beauty salon, swim in an outdoor pool, slide in a waterpark, and sit down and eat in a restaurant located inside mall. Then pop down the gym and burn off all the calories you’ve just eaten.

Qatar announces plans to bid for hosting the Olympic Games. Yesterday an official submission was made to the International Olympic Committee registering Qatar’s interest in hosting the Olympic Games as early as 2032. If successful this would be the first time the games have been held in the Middle East.

Subsidized sheep sale begins. And if you would like a sheep slaughtered for the festive season. It’s going to cost 1,000 Riyals for a local sheep of 35kg or more. And a Syrian sheep is going cost you 950 Riyals for one weighing 45kg or more. But the subsidized rates are for Qatari Citizens only.

Exemption from physical inspection of vehicles will stop effective from August 1st. After that your annual vehicle inspection will return to pre COVID procedures.

A 3rd COVID 19 hospital has been re-appropriated and converted into an isolation facility. Yet another sign of Qatar’s enormous achievement in dealing with this crisis. And we mustn’t forget the effort, heroism and dedication. That has got us to where we are today.

Now here’s a quick COVID update

Active cases have dropped by a further 12 people.  Bringing the active cases down to 3,104 in the last 24 hour period.

Of those tested, 8.1% of people are testing positive over a 7 day average.
