Qatar's News Papers Weekend Edition Fri 5th Nov

A recap of Qatar’s big news stories for the week up to Friday 5th November. Brought to you in conjunction with Marhaba, the ultimate guide to Qatar.

Starting with Saturday when it was revealed that traffic cameras can now spot drivers using mobile phones at the wheel. Traffic cameras on Qatar’s roads especially those at signals have been activated to spot motorists who use their mobile phones while driving. And this makes me very happy indeed.

Sunday now and Qatar’s population shrinks by 80,000. over the span of one year Qatar saw its population shrink by 80,000 according to the planning and statistics authority. The population has reduced from 2.72 million in September 2020 to 2.64 million in September 2021.

Monday and the price of fuel increased to 2 riyals for Premium, 2.1 riyals for super, and diesel has risen to 2.05 riyals per litre.

Tuesday and Al Jazeera marked its 25th anniversary. The Al Jazeera media network celebrated its silver jubilee in its headquarters in Doha on Monday under the theme ‘Al Jazeera, 25 years a unique path’. The celebration was attended by the Father Amir His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Yesterday the Qatar Tribune said that nights are to get cooler, and we can expect intermittent scattered rain, and low visibility due to prevailing foggy conditions during this weekend and the week ahead. They also said that it’s jazz time at Katara. The katara European Jazz Festival has returned to Qatar’s cultural village for its 7th edition, featuring an impressive line-up of bands from France, Austria, and Portugal. The music festival which began on Wednesday will take place until tomorrow.

And in today’s papers, the Cornish is to stay closed for the FIFA Arab Cup. From November the 26th until December the 4th, the Corniche will remain closed to traffic in both directions.

And finally, Qatar Airways receives ‘Maritime Oscar’s’ for ‘Investment in People’.

Qatar Airways has won the ‘Investment in People’ accolade from the Seatrade Awards 2021, in recognition of its contribution to the welfare of thousands of seafarers. The airline not only played a leading role in the repatriation of mariners stranded by the pandemic, but also continued to facilitate essential crew changes to support the global supply chain.

The Shisha Terrace in the Four Seasons has its very own entrance, so you can easily park right outside and enter next to the Spa entrance.

Once inside you will quickly notice that anywhere you sit you have amazing views.

Every seat in the house will have you staring out of the window at one of the most beautiful locations in Qatar.

And now the weather’s cooling down you could also sit outside and get even closer to that picture postcard setting.

The Shisha Terrace will help you to unwind in no time, my state of mind switched to vacation mode almost instantly.

While I was here, I also popped down to take a look at the beach and pools. There are so many pools I didn’t even discover them all, yet alone film them. I think I will be investigating a Pool and Beach Membership here very soon. If you’re going to spend some time at the pool, you may as well do it in style.

And oh my goodness just look at that beach. If you’ve never been to the Four Seasons Doha before, I hope you’re beginning to realise why you should.

Now back to my breakfast, and the Shisha Terrace prepared us some Lebanese delights. Now you have to believe me when I say this was the best Lebanese meal I have ever had. The rest of the Marhaba team know I am brutally honest when it comes to food. And I was full of compliment while I was tucking into this.

And behind this delicious spread is the team responsible for it. Give us a wave guys.

One of the best times to experience the Shisha Terrace is in the evening. Why not drop in and experience for yourself how amazing this place really is.
