Qatar’s population drops to 2.629 million

The total population of Qatar dropped to 2.629 million by the end of May 2021, an annual decrease of 6.4% as compared to the same month last year.

TIR system goes live in Qatar

The International Road Transport Union has officially announced the implementation of a TIR agreement for transit in Qatar under the TIR system.

With Qatar set to host a series of major international events in the coming years, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup, TIR will help speed up supply chains, ensuring the secure and timely delivery of goods to and from the country in the GCC region and worldwide. TIR, the only global transit system allows goods to be shipped from one country to another in sealed compartments that are controlled by customs via a multilateral, mutually recognised an UN backed system.

Qatar’s weather Today

The Met Office have put out a warning that strong winds are expected in some places throughout the day. Doha will see temperatures between 33 and 44 degrees. Elsewhere in the country it will be between 24 and 46 degrees.

Now today’s COVID update.

In the last 24-hour period, there have been 230 new cases of COVID-19 and 296 recoveries. Unfortunately, there was also 4 Covid related deaths. Which means for the 5th day running there has been a decrease in active cases, today dropping by 70 giving us a new current total of 3,497 active cases.
