People recovered from COVID-19 exempt from quarantine

The Ministry of Public Health has issued an update to the quarantine protocol and testing for COVID-19. As per the update people who have recovered from COVID-19 will be exempt from quarantine. And all travellers coming into Qatar must undergo a COVID-19 examination at a medical centre approved by the local Ministry of Health in the country they are coming from within 72 hours before their arrival in Qatar.

COVID-19 measures to continue

The cabinet has affirmed the continuation of precautionary measures taken to combat COVID-19.

The Ministry of Public Health issues sick leave guidelines for quarantined employees

Employees with infectious COVID-19 must be placed under appropriate isolation for not less than 14 days and they will be eligible for sick leave. Employees with non-infectious COVID-19 must be placed under appropriate isolation for a period of seven days and they will be eligible for seven days sick leave. If they are required to enter hospital and the isolation period is extended for a period of more than 14 days, the entire period will be considered as sick leave.

QNCC vaccine centre to work in two shifts

The primary healthcare Corporation has announced revised working hours at the Qatar National Convention Centre COVID-19 vaccination centre, for the holy month of Ramadan. The centre will work in two shifts seven days a week, with effect from yesterday, according to a post on social media. The first shift is from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM, with the last entry at 3:00 PM, and the 2nd shift is from 7:00 PM until 1:00 AM, with the last entry at midnight.

350 vehicles seized for traffic violations

As part of the traffic inspection campaign to control violations during the Holy Month of Ramadan the general directorate of traffic has seized about 350 vehicles for committing several violations.

The campaign aims to reduce traffic accidents and traffic violations, as well as strengthen road safety requirements to protect lives and property.

37% of adults got at least one COVID vaccine jab

Almost 37% of people aged 16 years and above have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine since the start of Qatar’s National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme.

About 83.4% of people aged 60 and over, which is the most vulnerable population group, have been vaccinated with at least one dose, while 68.8% have received both vaccine doses the Ministry of Public Health says.

Qatar Airways Holidays launches new quarantine free Holidays packages

Ministry of Public Health starts applying world standards for testing imported food

The MoPH have begun implementing the requirements of the international quality system ISO 17020 in the field of inspection of imported foods. By training inspectors working in the various state outlets to apply the new standards.

The training carried out by the technical team at the food safety department includes, all areas of inspection including document checking, visual inspection, and sampling according to standard work methods consistent with international best practises.

Traffic Department warns against over speeding before iftar

The General Directorate of Traffic has warned drivers against over speeding, especially before Iftar. The Directorate also stressed that road users have to adhere to the speed limit to preserve the safety of others. Drifting, reckless driving, and speeding before Iftar are among the common wrong traffic behaviours during Ramadan.

Many airlines will go under, warns Al Baker

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker has warned that many airlines will go down by the time the COVID-19 pandemic is over. In an interview with CNN Al Baker said “by the time this pandemic is over, there will only be a few airlines that are strong and will continue operating. A lot of other airlines will go under. And this will continue to happen because we have not seen the worst of it over yet.”

The Ministry of Public Health has announced that 35.5% of people aged 16 years and above have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine since the start of Qatar’s national COVID-19 vaccination programme.

60% of eligible population to receive vaccine in two months

Some 60% of the eligible population will receive vaccination against COVID-19 in Qatar within two months by continuing the current pace, according to a senior official within the Ministry of Public Health. “Once vaccination reaches 80% of the eligible population, life could return to normal” said Dr. Soha al-Bayat, head of Vaccination at the Ministry of Public Health.

The Obstetric Anaesthesia Service at Hamad Medical Corporation’s Women’s Wellness and Research Centre, has been designated as a Centre of Excellence by the Society for Obstetric Anaesthesia and Perinatology in the United States.

35 years and above now eligible for COVID-19 vaccine

Doctor Abdullatif Al Khal chairman of the National Health Strategic Group on COVID-19 says “lowering the eligibility threshold to 35 years of age will enable a wider section of our population to be vaccinated and become protected against COVID-19. Since the start of March, we have almost doubled the number of weekly vaccines administered and in the past seven days alone we have administered over 160,000 doses, across more than 35 vaccination centres.”

Manufacturing sector likely to employ over 100,000 by 2025

The government’s effort to boost the SME sector manufacturing and the shifting focus towards the non-hydrocarbon sector exports, is expected to drive the production value for the manufacturing sector by 30% from 2019 to 2025.

Action against 362 for flouting COVID norms

On Saturday as many as 362 people were referred to the public prosecution for violating COVID-19 safety norms.

282 people were booked for not wearing masks, 3 faced action for breaking a rule that bans more than 4 people including the driver from travelling together in a car, and 73 for not maintaining safe physical distancing, along with 4 more for not installing the Ehteraz application
