Thursday is the first day of Eid Al Fitr

The Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced that Wednesday May the 12th will be the final day of Ramadan, and that Thursday May 13th is the first day of Eid Al Fitr.

Amir Cup final postponed

The Qatar Football Association or QFA has postponed the final of the 49th Amir Cup for the 2020 – 21 season. Which was scheduled to be played this coming Friday. This decision comes after the announcement of the gradual lifting of COVID-19 restrictions in the country, which include allowing a limited number of fans to attend outdoor sports events, as long as they are vaccinated. Accordingly, the QFA will announce a new date for the game shortly.

Vaccination at QNCC from 3pm until 11pm on the first day of Eid

The COVID-19 Vaccination Centre at the Qatar National Convention Centre or QNCC will remain closed in the morning on the first day of Eid, says the Ministry of Public Health. However it will be operational in the afternoon from 3pm until 11pm. From the second day of Eid the QNCC Vaccination Centre will stay open from 7am until 11pm.

Qatar’s weather Today

Doha will see temperatures between 29 and 40 degrees. Elsewhere in the country it will be between 21 and 39 degrees.

In the last 24-hour period, there have been 343 new cases of COVID-19 and 994 recoveries. Unfortunately, there were also 4 Covid related deaths. Which means for the 19th day running there has been a reduction in active cases, today dropping by 655 giving us a new current total of 7,670 active cases.
