COVID-19 vaccines in Qatar likely in a few months

Pfizer and BioNTech vaccines were shown to be more than 90% effective, a major victory in the fight against the pandemic.

Pfizer and BioNTech expect to produce up to 50 million vaccine doses in 2020 and up to 1.3 billion doses in 2021

The Chairman of the National Health Strategic Group on COVID-19, Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal says “We have been working with Pfizer and BioNTech since the summer, and they are confident that if their vaccine get the necessary regulatory approval, Qatar will be able to receive an initial quantity of vaccines by the end of this year or very early in 2021”

Traffic Department increases its fleet with 30 modern patrol vehicles

To develop and strengthen its patrols, the Traffic Investigation Department at the general Directorate of Traffic has increased its fleet with 30 Ford patrol vehicles. This comes within the Ministry of Interiors preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Ooredoo say: Mobile services restored

Ooredoo said yesterday it has completely restored its mobile services.  They say “Dear customers our mobile services have now been completely restored, and it’s back to business as usual. Our engineers and experts worked around the Clock to identify and address the problems we experienced. And all our customers should now be able to access their mobile services as normal.”

And now today’s COVID update.

In the last 24-hour period, active cases of COVID-19 have dropped by 14 to 2,697.

10,466 COVID-19 tests were performed, and just 2.2% of those tested positive.

Of those testing positive 43 were travellers returning to Qatar, and they are now in quarantine.

Unfortunately, there was 1 COVID-19 related death.
