Daily vaccine doses jump to 35,513 in a 24 hour period
Qatar’s National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme continues at a rapid pace as a record 35,513 vaccine doses were administered in the past 24 hour period according to the daily COVID-19 data published by the Ministry of Public Health yesterday.
1,670,911 COVID-19 vaccination doses have been given in the country since the start of the programme. And 46.1% of the eligible population has now received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
Qeeri develops cost efficient desalination technology
The multi effect distillation pilot plant is now operational in Dukhan
The Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute or Qeeri, part of the Hamad Bin Khalifa University or HBKU, has developed a sea water desalination pilot plant which is showing higher efficiency than conventional technology. Requiring just 4.5 kilowatt hours per cubic metre to desalinate the high concentration sea water of the Dukhan coast. As opposed to conventional technology which can require up to 12 kilowatt hours per cubic metre.
Eid Al Fitr holidays to start from May 9th
The Eid Al Fitr Holidays for ministries, other government entities, and public institutions will start this coming Sunday. And will resume work on Wednesday May the 19th says the Amiri Diwan.

In the last 24-hour period, there have been 640 new cases of COVID-19 and 1,422 recoveries. Unfortunately, there were also 3 Covid related deaths. Which means for the 12th day running there has been a decrease in active cases, today dropping by 785 giving us a new current total of 12,228 active cases.
