Now back to today’s papers

The Ministry of Education announced yesterday that students can return to school, on September 1st. That’s for both private and government schools.

Staff will return to work by August 19th

And the ministry states that attendance by both students and staff is mandatory.

In a statement by the Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al-Baker released yesterday. He say’s that protecting the population of his country comes first. And I quote “We don’t want to be so desperate that we take risks, which could be a health hazard and could have a second peak in my country. “

The statement indicates he would prefer to be patient, and only open up the country when it is safe to do so.

Personally I can sense the frustration of those around me, regarding international travel restrictions for them, and the ones they love. But I believe Akbar Al-Baker makes a valid point.

Having discharged its last patients on Wednesday, Mesaieed Hospital, which was one of the hospitals dedicated to treating COVID-19 cases, is now getting ready to switch to routine services in the near future.  And the COVID-19 quarantine centers are likely wind up soon as well. As the positive cases continue to drop.

Qatar Airways Holidays, is offering some great staycation offers right here in Qatar. So if you fancy a bit of luxury, some pampering or just a change of scene. You can take advantage of some of their great value packages available on their website.

Now here’s a quick look at yesterday’s COVID update

Of the 5,803 tested, 8.51%  which is 494 people, tested positive.

There were 531 recoveries, and I’m sad to say, 1 death.

Meaning active cases have dropped by 38 to 3,157 in the previous 24hr period.

That’s all for today, please take care, and I’ll see ya tomorrow.
