The Qatar News in around 60 Seconds – Monday 29th June 2020

It’s Monday 29th of June, this is the news in 60 seconds

Active COVID Cases drop by a massive 20,033 in just one month. More on that at the end of today’s video.

Qatar is to go ahead with Phase 2 of the lifting of COVID restrictions from July 1st. Which is Wednesday for those of you who don’t already know.

The Corniche, parks, beaches, museums and libraries all to reopen. But with social distancing and the usual precautions in place. And for me, one of the most important reopening’s, are the restaurants.

Gatherings have been reduced from 10 people to 5 people. And play areas in parks are to remain closed. But apart from that things are pretty much proceeding as planned.

If all goes well you will find me in McDonalds having breakfast Wednesday morning.

Vodafone Qatar marches ahead with smart, sustainable agriculture plan. It can offer farmers and agricultural companies Internet of Things or (IoT) solutions connected by its secure narrow band IoT network. Smart farming is most definitely the way to go. And I’m extremely interested in this topic.

Qatar Museums are offering their Culture Pass members exclusive access to visit Hawksbill Turtle nesting grounds. The organized visits will run from July 2nd until August 31st and will of course have precautionary measures in place. But what a fantastic opportunity to see something like this, especially as these sites are closed to the public for the season. Great initiative QM, keep up the good work.

Now, let’s take a quick look at the numbers for yesterday’s COVID update – Which shows 750 new positive cases. 1,477 recoveries and I’m very happy to say, NO deaths.

Active cases are now 15,601 meaning a massive decrease of 727 in the previous 24hr period.

Just a reminder that a month ago, on May 27th. The active cases were 35,634 and that number had just gone up by another 301. So in one month, the active cases have dropped by over 20,000. And instead of growing by 301 cases in one day, it’s now dropping by 727 in one day. Wow!

That’s all for today, please take care, and I’ll see ya tomorrow.
