Qatar’s Metro and bus services to resume at 30% capacity from September 1st
The ministry of Transport and Communications has issued a host of measures to ensure the safety of passengers . Service hours for Metro and buses will be the same as before COVID, just at 30% capacity.
The first vessel arrives at Hamad port’s CT2. Which stands for container Terminal 2. The vessel was loaded with the first shipment of rubber tyred gantry cranes, for vertical container transportation. And it’s the first of many, by the end of 2022 the ports capacity will be up to 3 million twenty-foot equivalent unit (or TEU’s) per year.
15,000 rooms to be ready for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, two years in advance.
The scheme uses existing residential buildings, including villas towers and residential complexes. All of which will be fully furnished providing approximately 15,000 additional rooms for use during the tournament by fans and visitors.
And for the third day running, on the front page of Qatar’s newspapers is the arrest of even more people for violating home quarantine rules. Today the papers name and shame four more arrested for breaking the home quarantine rules they pledged to abide by. Let’s hope the naming and shaming discourages even more from breaking these rules, which in doing so is putting other people’s health in danger.
Active cases of COVID-19 remain at just below 3,000. With 234 recoveries and 211 new cases.
Of those being tested, as a 7 day average we are now down to less than 5 people in 100, testing positive.
