Qatar to administer one million vaccine doses within days

Qatar came close to administering 900,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine yesterday. With this rapid rate, Qatar is also on the verge of administering a million doses within just a few days. According to the Ministry of Public Health 21,993 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of vaccine doses given to people since the launch of the National Covid-19 vaccination programme to 889,202.

Qatar will be able to vaccinate 70% of its population by mid-August according to the website covidvax.live

According to “covidvax.live”, a website that specialises in counting and recording vaccinations in the world against the coronavirus,  Qatar is managing the vaccination campaign at a rate of 0.27 vaccinations per second, or 23,609 everyday.

Schools switched to distance learning from today

All schools, universities, and kindergartens in Qatar will adopt distance learning from today, in the of wake of a recent spike in COVID-19 cases.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education called on students to continue engaging with distance learning, and called on parents to ensure their children attended classes.

Administrative and educational staff must attend schools.

Qatar’s weather today

The Met Office have put out a warning of strong winds and poor horizontal visibility in most areas.

Doha will see temperatures between 21 and 31 degrees. Elsewhere in the country it will be between 18 and 34 degrees.

Now today’s COVID update.

In the last 24-hour period, there have been 870 new cases of COVID-19 and 468 recoveries. Unfortunately, there were also 3 Covid related deaths. Which means there’s been an increase of 399 cases giving us a new current total of 16,776 active cases.
